Masterclass - Storytelling

Build the skills to turn ideas into action

Our masterclasses are designed to equip you with the practical skills and knowledge to help you build a successful business. You can view a full list of our masterclasses here.

This masterclass focuses on storytelling.

Great ideas don't sell themselves, how you communicate them does. Storytelling is what turns complex or technical work into something customers, investors and partners can immediately understand. It's also how you build trust in the market before you have a track record to point to. Founders who struggle to tell their story well often lose out, not because the idea was weak, but because no one could see its value. The good news: this is a skill you can learn.

This workshop gives you the tools to talk about what you're building in a way that gets people to buy into your vision.

Who's it for?

Open to all University of Edinburgh students and recent graduates (up to two years after graduation), regardless of your discipline or experience. Whether you're taking your first steps or looking to build on existing knowledge, our masterclasses cover a range of topics that will be helpful for you.

Format

This masterclass is a 50-minute online workshop.

By the end of the sessions, you'll:

  • Have a practical framework for building your story
  • Learn how to make technical or complex ideas instantly clear to a non-expert audience
  • Feel more confident talking about your idea on the spot

No previous experience is required; just bring your willingness to learn.
