Power Her Up 2021


We want to encourage and support more female founders at the University of Edinburgh. This new support programme is designed to empower those student entrepreneurs who identify as female to succeed.

We are collaborating with Advancing Eve to bring you Power Her Up. With this support programme we aim to:

  • Create a supportive network of women who can form a community and share knowledge and experiences
  • Equip you with an understanding of the challenges facing female entrepreneurs
  • Help you to build your confidence and break down limiting beliefs
  • Networking opportunities with other female entrepreneurs

As part of this programme you will have access to a themed, in-person event once a month, a WhatsApp group and other benefits announced at these sessions.

Advancing Eve

Advancing Eve is a social enterprise co-founded by one of our clients, Lara McGowan. They are a membership community dedicated to supporting women in achieving their aspirations. Offering a broad range of support including personal and professional development opportunities, wellbeing apps, discounts and events. We will be subsidising membership (to £2.50 a month) for Advancing Eve to participants of this programme.

More on the events

There will be one session on the second Thursday of every month (excluding December and May). The sessions are usually 3 hours in length (there is some flexibility in this), the first 2 hours will be peer to peer sessions where participants can share vulnerabilities, discuss challenges unique to women and build a support system. The final part of the session will be a chance to chat over some food.

Coaching

There are limited spaces available for 1-2-1 coaching.

Location

It is planned that these sessions will be held in-person in the Student Enterprise Hub, Appleton Tower. However they may move online if Government/University Covid restrictions require.
