Social scientists community of practice: forming and engaging with companies

Social scientists community of practice: forming and engaging with companies

There are many ways to apply social science research and skills to make a better world. This is an open invite to staff with social science expertise to contribute to a community exploring working with, or as, companies to create value, impact and benefits.

This Community of Practice (CoP) has been set up for social science and CAHSS academics to learn about opportunities and pathways for applying your work and ideas through businesses, and share challenges and good practice.

Whether you’re curious about how to create a start-up or spin out company, or just want to understand the options and support provided by Edinburgh Innovations, this is an opportunity to share knowledge, challenges, and support with others who are creating businesses.

The community of practice is supported by ESRC Commercialising Research of the Social Sciences funding and Edinburgh Innovations' services including the Engage programme. It aims to support social science staff to recognise and realise the potential of their skills and work to create valuable impact and revenue for future research, themselves and others through commercialisation.
