Build the skills to turn ideas into action
Our masterclasses are designed to equip you with the practical skills and knowledge to help you build a successful business. You can view a full list of our masterclasses here.
This masterclass focuses on how to incorporate a business in the UK.
Got an idea you're ready to turn into a real business? Incorporation is one of the first big steps, and getting it right from the start can save you time, money, and headaches down the line.
In this masterclass, we've teamed up with legal partners Shepherd and Wedderburn, a leading Scottish-headquartered UK law firm. They'll walk you through the 10 things you need to know (from a legal perspective) before starting a business in the UK, including choosing a legal structure, setting up founders' agreement, intellectual property and more. The session will conclude with a Q&A segment, giving you the opportunity to ask specific questions
Who's it for?
Open to all University of Edinburgh students and recent graduates (up to two years after graduation), regardless of your discipline or experience.
Format
This masterclass is a 50-minute online workshop.
By the end of the sessions, you'll:
- Know about the different company structures and know which might suit your business
- Understand the legal essentials you need to have covered
- Have a greater understanding of some of the legal documentation you'll need to have in place
No previous experience is required; just bring your willingness to learn.
