Dr Canela-Xandri, having received a PhD in Biophysics from the University of Barcelona undertook research in novel computational methodologies for analysing large genetic databases using Big Data approaches and then transferred this research into his work with Omecu. Omecu, a spin out from the University of Edinburgh is developing a high-performance genomics analysis platform which is paving the way to provide access for biomedical scientists and clinicians to complex genetic and epidemiological datasets.
