Consultancy is one of the key ways for an academic to achieve impact by lending their expertise to external organisations. It also carries a number of personal benefits, such as:

  • Raising your profile
  • Developing opportunities for engagement
  • Generating income for you or your School

Getting started in consultancy, however, can seem like a very daunting prospect, especially for those early in their careers.

David Giltner is here to help! His workshop will teach you to build an actionable plan for selling your scientific skills and expertise in the private sector. You will discuss what skills and expertise companies are likely to need, how to identify your Unique Selling Proposition, how to pitch it to potential clients in industry, and more.

David Giltner himself is seasoned in consultancy and has spent more than twenty years developing cutting-edge photonics technologies into commercial products in the fields of optical communications, remote sensing, directed energy, and scientific instrumentation.
