Two Day Design Thinking Masterclass
October 31st & November 1st, 09:30 - 16:30, Edinburgh Futures Institute
Through hands-on learning in this two day workshop, you will have the opportunity to work through your own project idea and understand the end-to-end design process. You will apply various methods and tools in order to understand design thinking, the Double Diamond design process, and how to build a product that aims to deliver product/market fit. Gain some inspiration from discussing and reviewing healthtech product development approaches.
Day 1 - Building empathy, defining/understanding the current situation and revisiting the core problem
Day 2 - Understanding what good looks like, building the future vision and visualising a concept to take forward
The entire two day workshop will be delivered practically - we'll be using lots of A3 paper, post-it notes and sharpies. We will introduce current industry tools that can help in the process but the aim of this workshop is to introduce methods that can be used before solutioning, to align teams on exactly what and why tools need to be built, and everything to know about the target audience.
Methods, tools and frameworks you will learn include:
· Design Thinking and Double Diamond process
· Archetypes and Personas
· User Stories
· How Might We statements
· Ideation techniques
· Storyboarding
· Paper Sketching and Wireframing
You will have the opportunity to present concepts and work back to other attendees along both days. Along with the design toolkit you will learn, the day is a great chance to practice essential skills like storytelling, empathy, collaboration and teamwork. This workshop will equip you with the skills needed to take future business ideas and projects forward in the right way.
