The Scottish Policy & Research Exchange (SPRE) will facilitate an interactive and practical workshop on knowledge mobilisation.

Knowledge mobilisation is a broad family of activities that can be deployed to support the uptake and use of research evidence. There is a growing evidence base that a robust strategy for knowledge mobilisation supports long-term engagement in research by evidence-users and deepens the impact of research evidence.

This workshop will focus on:

Explanation of the different practices of knowledge mobilisation including: dissemination, knowledge exchange, and co-production.

Case study examples of knowledge mobilisation, with a focus on how these practices generate impact.

Peer-learning to identify suitable knowledge mobilisation strategies for different types of research, and for different types of policy engagement.

Tools for evidencing and learning from your knowledge mobilisation activities.

Networking to support ongoing learning and connection with those affiliated with the iTPA Translational Community.

Knowledge mobilisation processes are not value-neutral, so this session will also support participants to learn to notice and navigate unequal power relations so that knowledge sharing is both rigorous and equitable.

This workshop will include a mix of presentations and interaction. The interactive part of the session will involve working in small groups of 3-4 people and sharing feedback to the whole group. Presentations will be short 20-minute inputs with time for discussion. All presentation material will be shared with the group after the workshop.

SPRE is a registered Charity with the aim of improving the knowledge ecosystem in Scotland to support more robust and equitable policy-making and governance. For more information about SPRE, please visit our website: https://spre.scot/
