Fear of failure is one of the main reasons women don’t launch a startup and one key tool to overcoming that is to build your confidence.
Join us for this unique, interactive workshop were Emily McGowan and Sue Briggs will enact a conversation between an entrepreneur and her business coach. Watch the exchange and make suggestions on what improvements could be made and learn how to become more confident.

- Emily McGowan
Emily has a background in marketing and is the co-founder of social enterprise Advancing Eve. Advancing Eve is a membership community dedicated to support women in achieving their aspirations.
- Sue Briggs
Sue is a facilitator and ILM coach. Extensive experience in designing, managing and delivering workshops-for frontline staff through to senior executives. Highly experienced in behaviour and culture change programmes. Competency areas include safety, performance management conversations, difficult conversations, influencing, listening and questioning, feedback and coaching. Specialist in drama-based techniques.

This event is part of our bigger support programme for female entrepreneurs. However you can attend this event alone and decide later if you wish to join the free programme. Power Her Up is designed to empower those student entrepreneurs who identify as female to succeed.
We are collaborating with Advancing Eve to bring you Power Her Up. With this support programme we aim to:
- Create a supportive network of women who can form a community and share knowledge and experiences
- Equip you with an understanding of the challenges facing female entrepreneurs
- Help you to build your confidence and break down limiting beliefs
- Networking opportunities with other female entrepreneurs
As part of this programme you will have access to a themed, in-person event once a month, a WhatsApp group and other benefits announced at these sessions. Learn more.
Who can attend
Any student or recent graduate from the University of Edinburgh who identifies as female.
