PhD Max - Pre-Accelerator Programme

We help prepare the next generation of PhD Students at the early stages of entrepreneurship. Take your specialised knowledge and interests and push the frontiers of your individual subject areas in a 6 exciting sessions! Drive your knowledge and PhD to the Max!

Target Student – All PhD students are welcome any year, any school!

Joining – Just answer a few questions about you!

How do you know if PhD Max is for you?

·      You are a PhD Student at the University of Edinburgh (any year and any area)

·      You have an interest in entrepreneurship.

·      You don’t have a business idea yet, but you are interested in maybe being a founder.

·      You are motivated and dedicated to solving problems.

·      You are interested in the entrepreneurial community at the University of Edinburgh.

·      You might be considering applying for Venture Builder Incubator or the Start-up Summer Accelerator but your idea is very early stage.

·      You want to learn and meet new people!

Sessions, Dates and Times:

  • What Makes a Good Startup? 19 January -5:00 pm-7:00 pm
  • Building Your Idea. 26 January 5:00 pm-7:00 pm.
  • Intellectual Property (IP) Basics 2 February 5:00 pm-7:00 pm
  • Market Research and Customer Discovery 16 February 5:00 pm-7:00 pm
  • Finding your Voice – Pitching 23 February 5:00 pm-7:00 pm
  • Pitch-off 16 March 5:00 pm-7:00 pm 

What should I bring to the sessions?

·      Your laptop

·      A water bottle

·      A sweater (you want to be comfortable)

Before You Join– PhD Max will run 6 sessions from 5 pm -7 pm on the dates listed above. If you join PhD Max it is expected that you will attend all sessions. This will also ensure the best result for you at the end when you pitch your idea. 

*please note that our events and workshops are often photographed and images can be used on social media and marketing materials. If you are not comfortable with this please let a member of staff know prior to the start of the workshop.*
